Humanitarian airlift

The Airbus Foundation partners with national and international humanitarian organisations to unlock access to essential airlift. This can involve mobilising Airbus test aircraft, coordinating a charter flight or helicopter hours, or supporting joint logistics efforts with the aviation industry.  Our partners convene the needs of hundreds of local humanitarian actors to ensure optimal and efficient provision of airlift capacity around the world.

Always led by our partners’ expertise and understanding of where the need is greatest, we support the delivery of vital medicine, nutrition and other aid to respond to emergencies, support recovery and strengthen community resilience.

Helicopter capacity

We deploy helicopters to provide continuity of essential services for communities facing long term humanitarian crises. Transporting food, medicine and other supplies to communities affected by conflict or natural disasters, we enable local NGOs to continue providing life-saving support.

In environmental programmes, Airbus' helicopters help gather aerial landscape data, monitor project progress, fight fires and enable health innovations to scale.

Satellite imagery

We provide access to very high resolution (VHR) satellite imagery to support environmental and humanitarian programmes.

Standard resolution Earth observation provides limited information and insights into natural landscapes and wildlife habitats. We partner with conservation organisations to provide more precise VHR satellite imagery that helps effectively monitor and protect endangered ecosystems, inform conservation strategies and guide decision making.

We also work with humanitarian organisations, providing VHR satellite imagery to support landscape analyses, including the identification of human migration patterns and the planning of infrastructure development and food distribution.

Capacity building

The Airbus Foundation’s capacity building work is designed to strengthen self-reliant healthcare systems. We work with partners to identify skills and knowledge gaps, and share products, services and expertise so local communities and organisations can continue to address the challenges they face.

Working with specialist NGO partners, we provide helicopters, skills and knowledge to expand life-saving Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) services and advocate for improved health systems around the world.

We also support environmental NGOs with Earth observation and artificial intelligence (AI) skills, expertise and training.

Skills and knowledge

We enable our partners to strengthen their leadership, strategic and project management skills by providing access to Airbus’ training and development catalogue. Partners’ employees can access standard and bespoke training on topics such as Organisational Design, Managing Change and Executive Coaching to help navigate the organisational challenges they may face.

We also collaborate with educators to share skills and knowledge via the Airbus Foundation Discovery Space. Through a range of regularly-updated interdisciplinary STEAM learning resources, we support educators and young people around the world with educational content that inspires curiosity and critical thinking.
